33/ PDTRA Voices Support for High-Quality Sports Initiatives

Petra, Feb 9 (Petra) - Commissioner of Petra Archeology Park and Tourism at the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Yazan Mahadin, affirmed the authority’s keenness to support high-quality sports initiatives and strengthen cooperation with national and international sports federations in a manner that serves Jordan’s image and enhances Petra’s global presence.

According to a PDTRA statement on Monday, Mahadin made his remarks as he received a delegation of fencing players and coaches participating in the "Nashama Camp," along with representatives of the Jordan Fencing Federation (JFF), as part of preparations for the Asian Championship.

The camp aims to raise players’ technical and physical readiness and to exchange expertise among different coaching schools in a professional, serious working environment that contributes to developing athletic performance and enhancing competitiveness.

The camp saw participation from players and coaches from several countries, including Jordan, Hungary, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands, providing high-level exposure and practical experience ahead of the upcoming Asian event.

The delegation’s visit to Petra is part of JFF’s vision to promote sports tourism and link sports with Jordan’s cultural and historical dimensions. Discussions were held on the possibility of hosting future international championships in Petra, contributing to consolidating Jordan’s position as a regional and international sports and tourism destination.

Director of the Tourism Directorate Imad Al Hlalat and Director of the Reserve Security Directorate Mohammad Al Amarat.
