33/ Canadian envoy visits Al Bashir Hospitals; sees services at specialised surgery centre

Amman, Feb. 10 (Petra) Canadian Ambassador to Jordan Louis Martin Omeille Tuesday visited the Spesialised Surgery Centre at Al Bashir Hospitals, where he was briefed on medical services and ongoing development projects.

Omeille was received by Director of the Hospitals Administration Ali Abdallat; Director of the Ministry of Health's Projects, Planning and International Cooperation Department Huda Ababneh; Director of the Surgery and Specialised Surgery Hospital Atef Namoura; and a number of administrative and medical staff.

The visit came as part of efforts to follow up on the work of the Refugee Health Fund donor group, of which Canada is a key contributor, supporting the sustainability of health services and enhancing their capacity.

Abdallat gave a presentation outlining the history of Al Bashir Hospitals, the advanced services they provide and recent developments in medical care and infrastructure.

He reviewed current expansion projects, upgrades to medical equipment and initiatives aimed at improving patient safety, quality control and institutional performance, highlighting the hospitals' central role in delivering healthcare services nationwide.

The tour included several key departments at the Specialised Surgery Centre, including the Intensive Care Unit, the Cardiac Catheterisation Unit, the Cardiac Care Unit and operating rooms.

Omeille said he appreciates the humanitarian impact of the Health Fund's projects, adding that Canada is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen the health sector and enhance the ability of healthcare institutions to meet community needs.
