34/ Princess Rym Ali patronises graduation ceremony of Jordan film academy's first cohort
Amman, February 10 (Petra) Princess Rym Ali, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan, on Tuesday patronised the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of students from the Jordan Film Academy at Al Balad Theater in Amman. The event marked a milestone in the development of film education in Jordan. In remarks at the ceremony, President of the German Jordanian University (GJU) Alaa Halouli said the graduation represents a pivotal step toward building a competitive Jordanian film industry with global reach. He described the academy as the product of a strategic partnership founded on the conviction that investing in human capital is essential for sustainable cultural development. Halouli said GJU is proud for hosting the academy, noting that it integrates academic instruction with practical training to equip Jordanian youth with the skills needed to create and make an impact locally and internationally. Director General of the Royal Film Commission Muhannad Bakri said the academy serves as a national platform for preparing a new generation of filmmakers capable of telling their stories and expressing their identities through a universal cinematic language. The ceremony was attended by a large number of filmmakers and representatives of the Jordanian film industry. Bakri added that the 12 graduates completed a 16-month programme that included intensive practical training across all filmmaking disciplines, including directing, cinematography, screenwriting, sound, editing and production. The courses were supervised by prominent film experts from Jordan and the region, preparing students to enter the professional field. Two films produced as part of the graduates' final projects were screened during the ceremony. At the conclusion of the event, Princess Rym Ali presented the graduates with diplomas in filmmaking, accredited by the Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission. Established in 2014 as a joint initiative between the Royal Film Commission and the German Jordanian University, the Jordan Film Academy aims to develop the next generation of Jordanian filmmakers. Its curriculum was designed by Jordanian and Arab experts and is delivered by professional faculty from Jordan and the region. //Petra// AK
