37/ Yarmouk University President, Indonesian Envoy Discuss Expanding Academic, Cultural Cooperation
Irbid, Feb 10 (Petra) - President of Yarmouk University, Malek Alsharairi, and Indonesia’s Ambassador to Jordan, Ade Padmo Sarwono, discussed ways to strengthen scientific and cultural cooperation between Yarmouk and higher education institutions in Indonesia. During his meeting with the Indonesian ambassador and Rector of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Amany Lubis, Alsharairi stressed Yarmouk University’s commitment to providing an attractive educational environment for international students and offering facilities that contribute to their academic excellence and active engagement in university life. He said the university is seeking to expand its partnerships with Indonesian universities, particularly in student exchange and the exchange of faculty members and researchers, to enhance joint educational and research cooperation. The Indonesian ambassador lauded Yarmouk University’s attention to Indonesian students, especially in Sharia and Arabic language disciplines, noting that Yarmouk graduates in Indonesia hold leadership positions in their country, reflecting the quality of education at the university. During the visit, the ambassador and his accompanying delegation took part in activities of the "Irbid 2026 – IRBID EXPO," held at Al-Kindi Auditorium at the Faculty of Arts. The exhibition aims to promote cultural and intellectual exchange between Jordan and Indonesia and provide Indonesian students with an opportunity to express their culture and arts. The exhibition featured artistic and creative works by students in painting, sculpture, and handicrafts, as well as a panel discussion on culture, education, and the arts, with the participation of Prof. Amany Lubis and Indonesian lecturer Professor Rocky Gerung. //Petra// AF
