52/ UNRWA Reopens Al-Bureij Health Center in Gaza, Resuming Essential Services
New York, Feb 10 (Petra) - The United Nations announced on Tuesday that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has reopened the Al-Bureij Health Center in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, resuming the provision of essential health services after months of closure. UN Secretary-General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said the center provides primary healthcare, immunizations, maternal health services, chronic disease management, laboratory testing, and oral and dental health services. However, Dujarric warned that "thousands of patients remain deprived of treatment and recovery opportunities due to the unavailability of certain vital services in the Gaza Strip," noting that a top priority is expanding local services, including rehabilitating damaged facilities and broadening critical care, which requires additional medical supplies, including items that are difficult to obtain approval for from Israeli authorities, such as X-ray machines and laboratory equipment. //Petra// AF
