12/ Police Incinerate 11 Million Captagon Pills, Large Narcotics Seizure

Amman, Feb. 11 (Petra) -- Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) at Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Wednesday destroyed large quantities of narcotic substances seized in 148 separate cases involving trafficking, possession, and smuggling, following the issuance of final court rulings.

The destroyed items included around 11 million Captagon pills, 60 kilograms of marijuana, 9,000 narcotic pills, 100 grams of cocaine, 368 kilograms of hashish, 13 kilograms of khat, 4 kilograms of "Joker" powder, and 11 kilograms of crystal meth.

The substances were incinerated in designated furnaces reaching temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius to ensure complete melting, fragmentation, and elimination of their narcotic properties.

The PSD affirmed that the AND continues its round-the-clock operational efforts across the Kingdom and at border crossings to firmly confront attempts to smuggle or transit drugs through Jordan, given the direct threat they pose to public safety and security.

It added that these efforts are carried out in close coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army and Jordan Customs Department as part of a joint framework aimed at curbing the spread of narcotics and mitigating their harmful impact.
