  5/ Jordanian, Syrian business communities sign agreement to activate cooperation

Amman, Feb. 14 (Petra) – Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) and the Syrian Businessmen and Businesswomen Associations renewed an agreement to activate joint cooperation, reaffirming the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in Damascus in 2009.

This agreement aims to enhance joint coordination to serve and expand horizons of bilateral relations and benefit the economic interests of both Jordan and Syria.

The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the Jordanian-Syrian Investment Forum held in Damascus, seeks to strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two sides' businesspeople and investors and develop joint projects in various economic sectors of mutual interest.

Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate to organize events, conferences, and forums that contribute to developing their members' relations, increase communication and networking opportunities, provide all possible facilitations in this regard, and encourage those members to participate in these activities.

The agreement, which was signed by Ayman Alawneh, JBA Chairman and Haitham Joud, Chairman of the Syrian Businessmen and Businesswomen Association, aims to exchange information on trade and investment regulations and laws, as well as other matters of interest to the two countries' businesspeople.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Syrian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdul Salam Heikal, Jordanian Ambassador to Syria, Dr. Sufian Qudah, and the Jordanian delegation participating in the forum.

Additionally, both sides agreed to cooperate in holding joint seminars and workshops, in accordance with prior agreements and procedures, to achieve a specific goals agreed upon by both sides.

Both sides will take all necessary measures to implement the memorandum of understanding to achieve common goals. This vision includes providing support and assistance to the two countries' business delegations and trade missions and provide all necessary facilitations.
