20/ ACC to provide JD1m to implement Healthy Villages project
Amman, Feb. 17 (Petra) – Director General of Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC), Mohammad Doujan, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Health for Primary Healthcare and Epidemics, Dr. Riyad Shiyab, on Tuesday signed a cooperation agreement to renew and implement the Healthy Villages Project. The step aims to improve the health, social, and economic conditions in Jordan's rural areas and promote "sustainable" development in the targeted Healthy Villages by empowering residents to establish small income-generating projects to raise their living standard. Under the agreement, the corporation will allocate JD1 million in the form of interest-free loans granted to eligible people to benefit from this program. The process will be carried out, in accordance with criteria and parameters that ensure the achievement of the two sides' common goals, in line with development priorities and the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV). Meanwhile, Ministry of Health will pay the interest costs on behalf of borrowers in the approved villages. Additionally, the maximum loan amount will be JD5,000 interest-free, with a repayment period of up to five years, based on specific criteria, mainly capacity and empowerment to establish and develop an economically viable agricultural project. The agreement aims to implement EMV's goals and the comprehensive national plan by economically empowering villagers, stimulating rural agricultural activity, and providing sustainable job opportunities, which would contribute to improving life quality and promoting comprehensive development across the Kingdom. //Petra// AG
