  56/ Governorates Step Up Preparations for Ramadan

Amman, Feb 17 (Petra) - With the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, official and local authorities across governorates have intensified preparations to ensure smooth daily, social, and service operations during the month.

In Madaba, the municipality and the Directorate of Awqaf completed maintenance and lighting of several mosques to welcome Ramadan. Haitham Jwainat, head of the municipal committee, emphasized that the work is part of a broader plan to enhance public facilities and lighting infrastructure in coordination with relevant authorities.

In Tafilah, officials and commercial sectors organized market inspections, traffic management, environmental protection measures, and controls on vegetable and fruit stalls. Governor Sultan Al-Madi stressed the importance of monitoring violations such as price manipulation or monopolization and coordinating with municipalities to reduce unlicensed street stalls. Enhanced inspection teams will ensure food safety and adherence to public health standards.

In Petra, Shaker Al Adwan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Petra Development and Tourism Authority, and Sattam Al-Majali, Petra District Governor, toured Wadi Musa markets to check the availability of goods, food prices, and commercial activity, emphasizing collaboration with authorities to maintain market stability and consumer protection.

In Zarqa, the Chamber of Commerce and the Food and Drug Administration branch conducted a workshop on food safety, hygiene practices, and proper storage methods, highlighting the importance of self-regulation among workers to ensure a safe food supply.

In Mafraq, the Awqaf Directorate launched the "Your Fasting is Dear to Us" initiative, covering social, religious, and preventive aspects, including youth volunteer teams in mosques, advocacy campaigns in schools, and charitable Iftar tables for the needy.

In Karak, Mutah and Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi Municipality organized planning meetings to coordinate official working hours, market oversight, and traffic management, ensuring efficient service delivery and smooth Ramadan operations across the district.

Authorities across governorates emphasized cooperation between public institutions, local communities, and the private sector to enhance readiness and uphold safety, health, and convenience for citizens during the holy month.
