Amman, Feb. 18 (Petra) – Jordan Customs Department (JCD) agents, in cooperation with security agencies, seized "large" quantities of smuggled goods in stores set up for this purpose. The confiscated items included 6,500 bottles of vape juice, half a ton of assorted hookah flavour, 20 kilograms of tobacco unfit for consumption, 2,000 cartons of cigarettes, 280 e-cigarette pods, and various counterfeit and prohibited goods. In a statement, JCD said these efforts are part of protecting the national economy and public health, combating commercial fraud and smuggled goods that violate public health regulations, maintaining market fairness and raising awareness about the dangers of smuggling and its negative repercussions on society and the economy. The JCD added that success of these operations is due to the "close" cooperation between the department and security agencies, with a genuine partnership with citizens, who are a "cornerstone in combating smuggling by providing information that contributes to protecting their health and safety and supporting compliant merchants." On future vision, the JCD underlined the continued market-based monitoring and efforts to eliminate smuggling networks that directly impact local industries and the national economy. The department urged citizens to cooperate and immediately report any activity or violation that could harm the national economy or public health by calling the toll-free number (105) – Anti-Smuggling Operations Center. //Petra// AG
