34/ German President Visits GJU in Madaba
Amman, Feb 18 (Petra) - German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his spouse visited German Jordanian University (GJU) on Wednesday as part of his official visit to the Kingdom, underscoring the depth of educational and academic cooperation between Jordan and the Federal Republic of Germany. The visit included a tour of the university’s Technology, Research and Innovation Complex, where the German president reviewed the institution’s experience in scientific research, entrepreneurship, and partnerships with German companies and industrial institutions, in addition to practical training programs for students. Steinmeier also met several students participating in academic exchange programs and joint education projects. He was briefed on study and training opportunities in Germany and the university’s role in preparing students for integration into the German labor market. During the visit, he toured the newly established Faculty of Nursing, designed to meet the needs of the healthcare sector locally and internationally, in line with German academic standards, alongside other programs that adopt the applied German education model. The university administration said the visit reflects its standing as one of the most prominent strategic cooperation projects between the two countries and a leading model of applied education aligned with labor market and German industry needs. University officials noted that the institution maintains partnerships with around 120 German universities and more than 3,000 companies and industrial institutions, providing students with broad training and employment opportunities and reinforcing its role as an academic bridge between Jordan and Germany. //Petra// AF
