47/ France Records Longest Consecutive Rainfall Streak Since 1959, Europe Faces Flooding

Amman, Feb 18 (Petra) - France’s Météo-France reported Wednesday its longest continuous rainy period since records began in 1959, with 35 consecutive days of rainfall.

The period, spanning from January 14 to February 17, brought heavy rains, causing flooding across several regions. Authorities warned that the streak could extend as more rain is forecast.

A man was reported missing on Wednesday after his boat capsized on the Loire River, while water levels continue to rise in four western departments under red alert, with the situation expected to worsen due to Storm Pedro and high tides.

Other European countries are also experiencing severe weather and floods, including Portugal, where the bodies of a couple in their 60s were found on Wednesday in their car in a flood-affected area.
