17/ Arab Parliament Chief Condemns U.S. Envoy’s Remarks on Israeli Control of Arab Lands

Cairo, Feb. 21 (Petra) - President of the Arab Parliament Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi strongly condemned as dangerous the statements made by the United States ambassador to the Israeli occupation, who claimed it would be "acceptable" for Israel to control the entire Middle East and territories belonging to Arab states, including the West Bank.

In a statement, Al-Yamahi said the remarks represent a serious deviation from the rules of international law and the United Nations Charter and constitute open incitement to entrench occupation and legitimize policies of annexation and domination by force.

He stressed that speaking of the occupation’s control over the lands of others, foremost the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the West Bank, amounts to a blatant violation of international legitimacy resolutions and a direct undermining of the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent, sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Al-Yamahi said such aggressive statements do not serve stability or peace in the region and send dangerous messages that contradict international efforts aimed at ending the occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution.

The Arab Parliament president called on the U.S. administration to clarify its position on these rejected statements and to correct them in line with the rules of international law and its responsibilities as a permanent member of the Security Council. He affirmed that any proposal granting political cover to policies of occupation, settlement, and annexation is condemned and rejected in its entirety, reiterating that the sovereignty of states and their territorial integrity are a red line and that the Palestinian people will remain the rightful owners of their land.
