Mafraq, Feb 23 (Petra) - As part of efforts aimed at enhancing local development and empowering productive communities in Mafraq Governorate, cooperatives, supported by Royal Initiatives, continue to implement qualitative projects that have contributed to supporting the agricultural and food sectors, providing job opportunities for members of the local community, and strengthening economic sustainability while improving household income levels in the area.

Director of Mafraq Cooperative Directorate Lamia Shdeifat told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Monday that many cooperatives benefited from Royal Initiatives to support productive projects, which positively reflected on their ability to establish projects that enhanced production and significantly improved their economic standing.

Shdeifat noted that the "Abq Al-Sahra" Cooperative formed a success story through its dairy plant, which received support from the Royal Initiatives, providing job opportunities for a number of women and young people and contributing to improving household income levels and economically empowering women, in addition to supplying the local market with high-quality traditional dairy products.

She added that the "Umm El-Jimal District" Cooperative established an agricultural nursery project aimed at producing seedlings and supporting the agricultural sector in the region, noting that the project provided job opportunities and contributed to encouraging members of the local community to expand in agriculture and achieve sustainability.

Shdeifat indicated that the "Ayadi Al-Badia" Cooperative hosts a tomato-drying project considered a pioneering initiative that contributes to investing agricultural surplus and reducing waste in the tomato crop, in addition to providing job opportunities and creating added value for agricultural products.

She also referred to the "Anaqeed Al-Khair" Cooperative, which owns a honey production project that enhances local production, supports beekeepers and contributes to improving beneficiaries’ income levels while providing a distinctive national product, noting the role of the Royal Initiatives in supporting cooperatives and enabling them to implement qualitative projects that contribute to economic and social development in Mafraq Governorate.
