3/ JCC:Crown Prince’s Directives Provide Strategic Foundation for Digital Economy Growth
Amman, Feb. 24 (Petra) -- Jordan is moving steadily to strengthen its standing as a regional hub for innovation and advanced technology, following directives issued by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II during a recent meeting of the National Council for Future Technology. The Crown Prince underscored the need to further develop the scientific research and innovation ecosystem, calling for clearly defined national research priorities and stronger investment in high-impact fields. He emphasized mobilizing local expertise and academic institutions to ensure research efforts translate into tangible economic value. Haitham Al-Rawajbeh, representative of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), said the Crown Prince’s vision reflects a forward-looking strategy aimed at accelerating the growth of Jordan’s digital economy. He noted that aligning scientific research with market demands would enhance the ICT sector’s ability to generate practical, innovative solutions that boost competitiveness and open new growth opportunities for local tech companies. Al-Rawajbeh also highlighted the importance of modernizing digital government services, particularly through upgraded versions of the Sanad application, which are expected to streamline procedures and significantly enhance user experience. Such measures, he said, will fast-track digital transformation efforts and improve service efficiency for both citizens and businesses. He further stressed that projects such as the rollout of digital signature services represent a critical step in upgrading Jordan’s technological infrastructure. These initiatives, he added, not only strengthen investor confidence but also lay the foundation for a sustainable, knowledge-based digital economy driven by innovation and entrepreneurship. //Petra//WH
