10/ Several Gazan doctors honored for completing residency programs

Amman, Feb. 26 (Petra) –Jordanian Committee for Supporting Gaza Health Sector honored a number of doctors from the strip, who completed their higher residency and training programs in the Kingdom.

The programs came as part of the "Healthcare Workers Scholarship Project" during the committee's annual charity iftar banquet on Wednesday evening.

This move culminates the committee's efforts to empower 168 healthcare professionals from the Gaza Strip (specialist doctors, dentists, nurses, and laboratory technicians) to become the "backbone" of supporting hospitals within the Gaza Strip with specialized expertise under the current circumstances.

Talking at the honoring ceremony, Committee Chairman Jihad Ajlouni said this event embodies its paths launched since its establishment in 2008, which aim to direct relief support by sending medicines and medical delegations.

Ajlouni added that aid also seeks to extend to include "sustainable human development" through training medical personnel and restoring damaged health facilities in Gaza.

The graduating doctors expressed their appreciation for Jordan's "historic" role in hosting Gazans and facilitating their access to medical education.

In turn, Dr. Muzaffar Jalamdeh, Secretary of the Jordanian Medical Association, distributed commemorative shields to the graduating doctors.

The ceremony featured documentary films about "suffering of doctors in tents" in the Gaza Strip, and a tribute to the late Dr. Marwan Sultan, honoring his medical legacy.
