19/ 4,500 trees planted in Na'ur district under national afforestation campaign

Amman, January 8 (Petra) – The Ministry of Local Administration, in partnership with the municipalities of Na'ur, Hisban, and Umm al-Basatin, organized a large-scale afforestation initiative, as part of the "National Afforestation and Greening Campaign – Towards a Greener Jordan."

During the activity, approximately 4,500 trees were planted in these various municipal areas.

In a statement on Thursday, Ministry of Local Administration said the initiative is part of a plan, carried out in cooperation with all Jordan's municipalities, to plant more than 300,000 trees this year.

The ministry added that the campaign is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministries of Youth and Agriculture, with the active participation of the "Nahno-We," national youth engagement and volunteering platform, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Fifty people from youth centers, the "Nahno" platform, and the University of Jordan engaged in the activity.

The campaign aims to expand forest cover, increase green spaces, and support national efforts to protect the environment, mitigate the effects of climate change, and achieve a sustainable environmental impact.

Valuing efforts of the Ministry of Youth, its partners, and all volunteers, the statement added that this campaign aligns with national strategic policies aimed at promoting concepts of sustainable development and protecting the Jordanian environment.
