66/ Ajloun Raises Maximum Alert Level Ahead of Expected Weather Conditions

Ajloun, Jan 12 (Petra) - Ajloun Governor Nayef Al-Hedayat on Monday confirmed that the governorate has raised its level of maximum readiness to deal with the expected weather conditions during an expanded meeting held today with the heads of the five municipal committees in the governorate, the Joint Services Council, and directors of the relevant service departments, covering the agriculture, electricity, water and public works sectors.

Al-Hedayat told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the governorate, based on clear government directives, is operating under a comprehensive emergency plan that ensures field readiness of all entities and rapid response to any emergency that may result from the weather situation, particularly in areas prone to flash floods or landslides, stressing that the safety of citizens and the protection of public and private property represent a top priority.

He noted that the main operations room at the governorate building has been activated around the clock and linked with subsidiary operations rooms in the municipalities to ensure rapid response and direct coordination with the Civil Defense and security agencies, as well as to receive citizens’ reports and address them immediately.

Al-Hedayat explained that the Ajloun Public Works Directorate has placed its machinery and technical staff on full standby to deal with road closures or potential rockfalls, while municipalities have begun cleaning culverts and rainwater drainage channels, especially in low-lying areas and wadi courses.

He said the Ajloun Water Directorate has completed its preparations by monitoring water and wastewater networks and cleaning manholes in anticipation of rising water levels, while the Ajloun Governorate Electricity Company confirmed the readiness of its emergency teams to deal with any potential faults or power outages and ensure continuity of service.

The governor added that the Agriculture Directorate and the Joint Services Council for the agricultural sector continue to monitor the conditions of farmers and agricultural crops and provide the necessary guidance to limit any damage that may result from the weather conditions, especially in exposed agricultural areas.

Al-Hedayat urged citizens to adhere to Civil Defense instructions, avoid approaching flood channels and wadis, and refrain from risking crossing waterlogged roads, stressing that official bodies are working in a team spirit to ensure readiness and rapid response during the period of the weather system’s impact.
