13/ Senate President Highlights Jordan–Korea Ties, Calls for Expanded Cooperation

Amman, Jan. 13 (Petra) -- Senate President Faisal Fayez on Tuesday underscored the strength and resilience of Jordan–Korea relations, stressing His Majesty King Abdullah II’s commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors.

During a meeting at the Senate with the Chair of the Korean–Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee and committee members, Fayez reviewed bilateral ties and ways to enhance them.

Fayez said Jordan remains politically and security-wise strong, but faces economic challenges due to regional conflicts and continued aggressive and expansionist Israeli policies.

He praised Korea’s support for Jordan’s development and reform programs, particularly in water, health, and education, and called for expanding cooperation and signing additional bilateral agreements. He urged increased Korean assistance through investments and joint economic projects, especially in tourism, transport, energy, and water.

Fayez also emphasized boosting tourism cooperation to attract more Korean visitors, notably in religious and medical tourism, and reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to strengthening parliamentary ties and coordination in international forums.

On regional developments, Fayez said Middle East conflicts, most recently Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian people, require concerted international efforts, stressing that lasting security and stability depend on enabling Palestinians to attain their legitimate rights.

He welcomed the Gaza ceasefire agreement as an important step toward peace and called on the international community to support and ensure full implementation.

Fayez reiterated Jordan’s rejection of policies targeting its national constants, any alternative homeland proposals, and the forced displacement of Palestinians, describing such actions as violations of international law and war crimes that fuel further conflict.

Members of the Korean–Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee commended Jordan’s security and stability and the depth of bilateral relations based on mutual respect and shared interests. They also praised King Abdullah II’s efforts to promote regional security and stability and to resolve crises through diplomatic and political means.
