30/ Senate Committee Meets S. Korean National Assembly Delegation Over Cooperation
Amman, Jan. 13 (Petra) -- The Senate's Jordan-S.Korea Friendship Committee, chaired by Senator Ahmad Khudari, met on Tuesday with a delegation from South Korea’s National Assembly, headed by Chair of the Korea-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Committee MP Cho Eun-hee. The meeting discussed cooperation prospects and strengthening bilateral relations across multiple sectors, particularly parliamentary collaboration. Talking at the meeting held at the Senate's headquarters, Khudari underscored the "deep-rooted and robust" Jordan-S.Korea relations and their "historical" foundations based on mutual respect. The senator also called for further developing ties in investment, tourism, parliamentary engagement, culture, and health, as well as expanding economic and industrial cooperation and information technology. Khudari referred to ongoing efforts by His Majesty King Abdullah II to promote security, stability, and peace in the region and strengthen Jordan’s relations with other countries to serve peoples’ interests. Khudari pointed to the King’s efforts in defending the Palestinian cause and safeguarding Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites under the historic Hashemite custodianship. For her part, MP Cho praised the "distinguished" level of bilateral relations, affirming her country’s commitment to expanding and maintaining cooperation with Jordan, particularly in the economy, education, technology, and investment areas. The diplomat commended Jordan’s "pivotal" role, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, in supporting regional security and stability, noting her country’s support for the two-state solution. The committee members, in turn, emphasized the importance of attracting S.Korean investment to the Kingdom, citing Jordan’s "safe and stable" environment and the legislation and guarantees that can reinforce bilateral cooperation. The lawmakers also stressed promoting Jordan as a "promising" tourism and investment destination and strengthening trade, technological, technical, and educational cooperation. //Petra// AO
