18/ LH Committee, ABHS talk cooperation to serve Jordan's health sector
Amman, Jan. 25 (Petra) – The Lower House (LH) Public Health and Food Committee, headed by MP Dr. Ahmed Sarhaneh, on Sunday visited the Amman-based Arab Board of Heath Specialisations (ABHS) to learn about its tasks, programs, and challenges facing its operations. The committee met with ABHS Secretary-General, Dr. Omar Al-Rawas, and Head of its Scientific Council, Dr. Ismail Mutalqa, to discuss ways to support the board's efforts and enhance its role in serving the Kingdom's health sector and developing the system of specialized medical education and training. Talking at the meeting, Sarhaneh noted the visit reflects the committee's "commitment" to strengthening national achievements in the health sector and supporting specialized Amman-based Arab institutions, which would serve public interest and enhance the Kingdom's health and medical education system. Sarhaneh noted the ABHS is a "recognized" scientific and professional authority for accrediting training programs and granting specialized health certificates, based on relevant international standards and practices. The lawmaker also praised the board's "significant" efforts in raising the level of health education and specialized training in Jordan and the Arab world. Additionally, he underscored the committee's "full readiness" to cooperate with the board and work to address any challenges that might impede its continued operation in Jordan. The committee members praised the board's "pivotal" role in enhancing the competence of Arab healthcare professionals and improving the quality of health services. The MPs affirmed the board's continued operation in Jordan grants the Kingdom a "prominent position as a regional center for medical training and bolsters its reputation in the health sector at both the Arab and international levels." Al-Rawas, in turn, highlighted the board's goals, health and training programs, and mechanisms for accrediting medical certificates, highlighting its key figures and achievements over the past years. He commended the level of Jordan's cooperation with the board since its headquarters relocated to Amman in 2013. //Petra// AG
