2/ Brief Warm Spell Ahead of Midweek Weather Turn
Amman, Jan. 25 (Petra) -- A short-lived rise in temperatures is expected across the Kingdom through Tuesday, before a pronounced shift midweek brings cooler conditions, increasing cloud cover, and rainfall. Temperatures edge higher on Sunday under mostly sunny skies, though cold conditions persist over highland and plain areas. Desert regions, the Jordan Valley, and the Dead Sea remain relatively cold, while Aqaba turns slightly warmer. Moderate southeasterly winds prevail. The warming trend strengthens on Monday, with temperatures climbing to 4–5 degrees Celsius above seasonal averages. Despite the increase, highland areas remain relatively cold, while milder conditions extend across the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. High clouds spread overhead, and southeasterly winds become intermittently active, raising dust in desert areas. By Tuesday, temperatures level off, with cooler conditions lingering over mountainous regions and mild weather continuing in low-lying areas. Low clouds develop over northern and central parts of the Kingdom as winds shift between southeasterly and southwesterly. Weather conditions change decisively on Wednesday, as temperatures drop sharply and colder air moves in. Cloud cover thickens, transitioning from partly cloudy to overcast, with rain showers expected across northern and central regions and parts of the southwest. Thunderstorms are possible at times. Westerly winds strengthen, raising dust in desert areas and reducing visibility. Temperatures on Sunday range between 16 and 7 degrees Celsius in eastern Amman and 14 and 5 degrees in western Amman. The northern highlands record 12 to 6 degrees, while the Sharah highlands range between 13 and 4 degrees. Desert areas see temperatures of 18 to 4 degrees, plains 15 to 7 degrees, and the northern Jordan Valley 19 to 9 degrees. In the south, the Jordan Valley reaches 23 to 13 degrees, while the Dead Sea and Aqaba record 21 to 11 degrees and 25 to 13 degrees Celsius, respectively. //Petra// RZ
