27/ Princess Basma TeachingHospital in Irbid Performs First Successful Cardiac Catheterization
Irbid, Jan. 25 (Petra) - The new Princess Basma Teaching Hospital on Sunday successfully performed its first cardiac catheterization procedure, marking the launch of a new phase of specialized medical services that previously required referring patients to other hospitals. This milestone comes just days after His Majesty King Abdullah II inaugurated the new hospital, which was designed as a comprehensive medical complex to serve residents of Irbid, northern Jordan, and neighboring areas in line with the latest international standards. Hospital Director Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shhabat said the success of the procedure represents a major turning point in the hospital’s journey. He noted that it is the first of its kind to be carried out at the facility and reflects the advanced equipment and qualified medical staff the hospital has. He explained that in the past, catheterization cases had to be transferred to hospitals outside the governorate due to the lack of necessary devices and services. Dr. Al-Shhabat added that the hospital’s cardiology department has been supplied with modern, advanced medical equipment comparable to that in leading global centers, stressing that the medical team possesses the expertise and high competence needed to handle such delicate cases. //Petra// AF
