Amman, Jan. 27 (Petra) - Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh discussed with Syrian Minister of Awqaf Mohammad Abu Al-Khair Shukri cooperation in endowments and religious dawah fields.

Khalaileh, who received on Tuesday Shukri and the accompanying delegation currently visiting the Kingdom, stressed the depth of fraternal relations between Jordan and Syria and Jordan’s keenness, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to expand horizons of cooperation and integration between the two brotherly countries in various fields, in a manner that serves shared objectives and reinforces the values of unity and affection.

He pointed to the Ministry of Awqaf's areas of work in calling to God, caring for mosques and developing their message, qualifying imams and preachers, religious education, and providing a moderate Islamic discourse that reflects the bright image of Islam, in addition to the ministry’s developmental and economic role through the programs of the Zakat Fund, the Hajj Fund, and the development of endowment revenues.

For his part, Shukri affirmed keenness to continue cooperation between the two brotherly countries and exchange expertise, noting his country’s desire to benefit from Jordan’s pioneering experience in the field of endowments and employ it in developing Syria’s endowment sector.

The meeting was attended by Grand Mufti of the Kingdom Ahmad Hasanat, Chief Islamic Justice Abdul Hafez Rabtah, Imam of the Royal Hashemite Court Ahmad Khalaileh, Secretary General of the Ministry of Awqaf Ismail Al Khataba, Secretary General of the Ifta Department Zaid Al-Kilani, and directors general of the Hajj and Umrah Department Majdi Btoush, the Zakat Fund Abed Smeirat, the Development of Endowment Funds Department Yousef Qudah, the Hajj Fund Fouad Kouri, and the King Abdullah II Institute for the Training of Imams and Preachers Abdulsattar Qudah.

The Syrian delegation had earlier visited the King Abdullah II Institute for the Training of Imams and Preachers, where it received a detailed briefing from the institute’s director, Abdulsattar Qudah, on the institute’s mission, training programs, and efforts to disseminate the principles of the Amman Message. The delegation also toured the institute’s facilities and the historic Site of the Companions of the Cave.
