18/ JUST Hosts Regional Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Conference
Ramtha, Jan. 28 (Petra) -- The Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) on Wednesday launched a two-day regional conference on Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), bringing together experts and physicians from Jordan, Arab and foreign countries. The conference is being held under a regional research project titled "Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever," supervised by Dr. Nabil Hailat. The project aims to orchestrate scientific efforts to address the cross-border disease, streamline knowledge exchange, and build technical capacity in early detection, prevention, and epidemic response. Participants, through in-person sessions and remote activities, discussed key themes, mainly surveillance mechanisms and early response for CCHF, the latest developments in diagnostics and treatment pathways, and procedures to strengthen collaboration to formulate unified regional strategies to combat zoonotic diseases and their implications for food security. Talking at the opening ceremony, Hailat said the conference serves as an "advanced" scientific platform for sharing expertise and knowledge and for reinforcing research partnerships. Experts and researchers are participating from Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Greece, Sweden, Australia, Britain, and the United States. //Petra// AO
