9/ Jordan MPs Meet Council of Europe Assembly President in France

Amman, Jan. 28 (Petra) -- A Jordanian parliamentary delegation visiting France, headed by MP Nassar Qaisi, met with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Petra Bayr, to strengthen parliamentary relations and expand cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields.

According to a statement by the Lower House of Parliament on Wednesday, Qaisi said the meeting, attended by members of the Jordanian parliamentary delegation, addressed key challenges facing Jordan, including water scarcity, refugee burdens, energy challenges and rising costs, unemployment and its impact on youth livelihoods, and economic pressures linked to regional crises.

The delegation reaffirmed Jordan’s firm position, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, on the Palestinian cause, stressing that the two-state solution remains the only viable path to a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

The delegation also extended an official invitation to Bayr to visit Jordan, aimed at enhancing parliamentary partnership between the Kingdom and the European Union and continuing coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest.

For her part, Bayr expressed appreciation for Jordan’s pivotal regional role and praised the level of relations between the Kingdom and the European Union.

The visit forms part of the Jordanian Lower House of Parliament's ongoing efforts to broaden international parliamentary cooperation, advance shared interests, and strengthen Jordan’s presence on the global parliamentary stage and its role in regional issues.
