Amman, July 11 (Petra) -- China's National Meteorological Center issued a red alert for rainstorms on Saturday, the highest level in its four-tier warning system, as Typhoon Bavi is forecast to make landfall along the eastern coast of China in the early hours of Sunday. The center warned of potential heavy to torrential downpours across several regions of the country, including Zhejiang province, northern Fujian, northeastern Jiangxi, southern Anhui, as well as parts of Beijing municipality and Hebei province, the Xinhua news agency reported. The city of Wenzhou, which has a population of around 10 million, announced the suspension of schools, work, public transportation, and outdoor activities. Additionally, more than 400 flights and dozens of train trips were canceled across the province. "This massive mobilization is aimed solely at preparing for worst-case scenarios," the provincial government said in a statement. //Petra// AF
