Amman, July 12 (Petra) – Senate President Faisal Fayez expressed his pride in the "brotherly" Jordanian-Omani relations and their "high level" in various fields, including political, economic, investment, and parliamentary affairs. Fayez said these ties are "historic and deeply rooted" relations, based on mutual respect, to serve common interests, and support the just causes of the Arab nation. Fayez's remarks came during his meeting Sunday at the Senate headquarters with members of the Legal Committee of the Omani State Council, headed by Sheikh Sultan bin Matar Al-Azizi, in the presence of the Omani Ambassador to Jordan, Sheikh Fahad Bin Abdul Rahman Alojaili. Fayez called for advancing parliamentary relations between the Jordanian and Omani chambers to strengthen the role of the the two councils' parliamentary friendship committees and exchanging meetings and expertise between the permanent committees specializing in various sectors. During the discussions, Fayez and the committee members went over ways to strengthen bilateral relations to serve common interests, as well as issues concerning the Arab and Islamic nations. They also addressed the current situation in the region, particularly the Iranian-American-Israeli conflict and its repercussions on the security and stability of the region. Speaking at the meeting, Fayez said expansion of the war scope and conflict would lead to further chaos and destruction in the region. He stated Jordan rejects Iran's aggression against Jordan and the Gulf states, noting His Majesty King Abdullah II has affirmed that the security and stability of the Gulf states are an integral part of Jordan's security and stability. Fayez said His Majesty has called for halting hostilities and called for working to achieve "a comprehensive and sustainable" de-escalation that contributes to restoring security and stability and achieving peace for all. Fayez called for strengthening Arab solidarity and cohesion and establishing Arab economic unity to safeguard the interests of the Arab nation and its unity, and to confront Iranian ambitions in the region and the aggressive and expansionist policies of the Israeli occupation state. For their part, the Omani delegation praised the "high level of brotherly bilateral" relations, urging continued joint efforts to build upon existing ties across various fields and sectors. The delegates also commended His Majesty King Abdullah II's efforts to resolve outstanding issues in the region, establish peace, and defend just Arab causes, stressing Arab unity is the "only way to preserve the security and stability of Arab states and prevent regional interference in their affairs." //Petra// AG
