Amman, July 12 (Petra) -- The Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts will expand its cultural and entertainment lineup for its 40th edition by launching a dedicated daily program for children and families at the Sound and Light Theatre in the ancient city of Jerash. This marks the first time such an integrated family program has been scheduled since the festival's inception, aiming to provide a more inclusive experience for all age groups.

The Sound and Light Theatre will host more than 20 interactive Jordanian family events scheduled daily at 7:30 p.m. throughout the festival, organizers said in a statement on Sunday.

The venue will also feature a projection mapping light show every hour, adding a new visual dimension for visitors exploring the archaeological site.

The lineup includes a wide array of theatrical, entertainment, and interactive performances, such as a family carnival and children's plays including "Ward and the Magic Feather," "The Treasure," "The Land of Happiness," "Heroes of the Earth," "Friends and the Cunning Fox," and "Secret for a Secret." The schedule also features magic shows, traditional storytelling, the popular comedic play "Zaal and Khadra," and the comedy production "For the Money, We Headed North."

Additionally, the Zaha Cultural Center will present a series of musical and performing arts showcases, featuring an oriental ensemble, choral performances, dance and performing arts, a group musical concert, traditional dabke, ballet, the "Zha Drum" show, and the Zaha theatrical troupe. The Shadows Forum for Culture and Arts will also perform its production, "Street Stories."

The new initiative allows families to enjoy performances at one of the main landmarks of the ancient city of Jerash, blending entertainment with exploration of the historical site, while letting children and parents spend quality time in a space tailored to their interests.

The expansion reflects efforts by the Jerash Festival management to develop its content and broaden its venues. This ensures the visitor experience extends beyond major concerts and poetry nights to include dedicated programming that encourages greater family attendance at the festival.
