13/ Israeli Occupation Cabinet Approves New Settlement near Jenin
Occupied Jerusalem, July 15 (Petra) – The Israeli occupation government’s political-security cabinet on Tuesday evening approved the establishment of a new settlement near the Sanur settlement, south of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank. According to the Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth on Wednesday, the decision was submitted by far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Defense Minister Israel Katz. It raises the number of approved settlements to 103, following the approval of 34 new settlements last March across several areas of the West Bank and the northern valley. Smotrich had earlier announced the allocation of NIS 1.3 billion ($434 million) for the settlement project, describing the approval as "historic" and saying the move aims to strengthen Israeli control over the West Bank. //Petra// AO
