37/ Italian cities on red alert as third heatwave looms
Amman, July 15 (Petra) – The Italian Ministry of Health said on Wednesday that seven cities are under a red alert as the country braces for its third summer heatwave, with temperatures potentially reaching new record highs. The ministry said the cities under alert are Brescia, Florence, Perugia, Turin, Bologna, Frosinone, and Rome. As the heatwave gathers momentum, the number of cities added to the alert is expected to rise to 15, starting Thursday, including Cagliari, Campobasso, Genoa, Latina, Palermo, Pescara, Rieti, and Viterbo. Many regions and municipalities have issued orders requiring workers most exposed to the heat to stop working during the midday hours, between 12:30 PM and 4:00 PM, on days when a "red alert" is declared, the highest weather alert level. //Petra//SS
