68/ European shares edge higher as luxury stocks offset weakness in technology, telecom sectors
Amman, July 15 (Petra) -- European shares closed marginally higher on Wednesday as strong gains in luxury goods stocks offset weakness in the technology and telecommunications sectors, although escalating tensions in the Middle East continued to weigh on investor sentiment. According to Reuters, the pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.12% to close at 642.84 points. Germany's DAX index fell 0.59%, pressured by a 6.28% decline in shares of Infineon Technologies. The technology sector slipped 0.53%, while the luxury goods sector, the worst-performing industry group so far this year, advanced 3.22%. //Petra// AF
