30/ Jordan, FIFA Discuss Amateur Football Development

Amman, July 16 (Petra) -- The Jordan Football Association (JFA) and FIFA concluded on Thursday a workshop aimed at developing amateur football, bringing together representatives of key partners and stakeholders involved in advancing the sport.

The two-day workshop featured sessions led by FIFA instructors Belhassen Malouche and Amr Moheb, with JFA Secretary-General Samar Nassar and Technical Director Abdel Hay Ben Sultan in attendance.

The workshop included specialized lectures and discussions on the state of amateur football in Jordan, an analysis of its environment based on a recent study, global best practices, and mechanisms to enhance cooperation among relevant entities to expand participation and identify emerging talent.

Nassar said amateur football represents a fundamental pillar for the development of the sport and a key pathway for talent identification, noting that more than 90 percent of football players worldwide belong to this category.

She added that investing in amateur football and expanding participation opportunities would provide a continuous pipeline of talent for clubs and national teams.

Nassar said the workshop provided a platform for exchanging expertise and benefiting from international experiences, leading to practical recommendations to develop amateur football and strengthen partnerships among stakeholders.

The workshop brought together representatives from the ministries of youth and education, the Jordan Olympic Committee, public universities, national team coaches, lower-division and women's clubs, and private academies. It included discussions and practical activities focused on improving the amateur football system and reviewing successful international models.

The workshop is part of the JFA's efforts to expand football participation in Jordan, develop the sport's grassroots base, and strengthen cooperation with FIFA through its development programs.
