  4/ Jordan, Türkiye Explore Stronger Transport Cooperation, Advance Railway Connectivity Projects

Amman, June 26 (Petra)-- Minister of Transport, Nidal Al-Qatamin, and Türkiye's Ambassador to Jordan, Yakup Caymazo?lu, discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the transport sector during a meeting on Friday, with a particular focus on railway connectivity, road transport, and logistics services linking Jordan, Türkiye, and neighboring Arab countries.

The two sides underscored the importance of railway connectivity projects as a key pillar for promoting economic integration, facilitating trade, improving freight movement, and enhancing the efficiency of regional supply chains and logistics services. They also highlighted the role of such projects in strengthening links between regional transport networks.

Al-Qatamin stressed the importance of building on the strong Jordanian-Turkish relationship by expanding economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the need to move forward with strategic transport projects and reinforce the partnerships required to implement them in support of shared interests.

The meeting also addressed the Hejaz Railway Museum project at the Jordan Hejaz Railway Corporation. Al-Qatamin said the project enjoys the support and close follow-up of His Majesty King Abdullah II, stressing the importance of completing and inaugurating the museum while providing all necessary facilities to Turkish experts and technicians involved in its implementation.

The discussions further covered ways to overcome obstacles affecting road transport and transit operations, with the aim of improving the flow of trade and increasing the efficiency of logistics services.

For his part, Ambassador Caymazo?lu said Jordanian-Turkish relations continue to witness advanced cooperation across various sectors. He noted Türkiye's strong interest in expanding partnerships in the transport sector, particularly railway connectivity projects, which he described as a strategic priority due to their potential to support economic growth and strengthen commercial and logistical integration.

The ambassador also expressed Türkiye's readiness to provide technical support and expertise for joint transport projects, while reaffirming his country's commitment to continued cooperation on the Hejaz Railway Museum project and enhanced coordination between the relevant authorities to facilitate road transport and transit in the mutual interest of both countries.
