2/ Hot Weather to Hold Steady Through Thursday Following Monday Temperature Rise
Amman, June 29 (Petra) -- A slight increase in temperatures on Monday is expected to usher in a period of relatively hot weather that will persist through Thursday, with little change forecast in conditions over the coming days, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department. Forecasters said Monday will see temperatures edge higher, bringing relatively hot conditions to most parts of the country. The Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba are expected to remain the hottest areas, while moderate northwesterly winds will become active at times. The prevailing weather pattern is forecast to remain stable through Thursday, with relatively hot weather continuing across most regions. Hot conditions will persist in the Badia and low-lying areas, including the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, accompanied by moderate northwesterly winds that may strengthen intermittently. Monday's temperatures are forecast to reach 34 degrees Celsius in East Amman and 32 degrees in West Amman. Highs are expected to reach 30 C in the northern highlands and 31 C in the Sharah highlands, while the plains are forecast to record 34 C. The highest temperatures will continue to be concentrated in the country's desert and low-elevation regions, with forecasts pointing to 38 C in the Badia, 39 C in the northern Jordan Valley, 40 C at the Dead Sea and 41 C in both the southern Jordan Valley and Aqaba. //Petra// RZ
