37/ Amman Film Festival unveils seventh edition lineup

Amman, June 29 (Petra) - The Amman International Film Festival – Awal Film (AIFF) revealed on Monday its seventh edition lineup ahead of the July 26–August 3 screenings.

It features 82 films from 27 countries, including 10 world, two international, and five Arab premieres.

The lineup includes Arab feature films, documentaries, short films, and international features selected from nearly 900 submissions, offering audiences access to works beyond commercial cinema screens, alongside industry programs for filmmakers, organizers said.

Movies will compete for the Black Iris Award, the festival’s top prize, alongside awards across four competitive categories and a Best Jordanian Short Film award. Audiences will also have the opportunity to participate in post-screening discussions and vote for their favorites through the Audience Award.

Fadi Haddad, who is overseeing the Arab Narrative Features and Shorts sections, said this year’s selection explores themes of identity, belonging, and the search for stability during global uncertainty, reflecting the diversity and resilience of contemporary Arab cinema.

Murad Abu Eisheh, overseeing the Arab Documentary Features and Non-Arab Features sections, noted the shared focus across competitions on the relationships shaping human experiences, including family, love, friendship, and collective memory.
