21/ House speaker: Arabization of JAF leadership a 'turning point' in Jordan's history
Amman, Mar. 1 (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Mazen Qadi, extended his warmest congratulations to His Majesty King Abdullah II on the anniversary of the Arabization of the Army Command. In a statement Sunday, Qadi said: "On behalf of the House's members, I extend my sincerest greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah II, Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), and the army's brave servicemen and security services, both active and retired, as Jordan celebrates this national milestone that marked a decisive turning point in the Kingdom's history." Qadi said the decision to Arabize the Army Command, made by His Majesty the late King Hussein bin Talal, "solidified national sovereignty." Throughout the decades, Qadi added that the army has remained a "symbol of loyalty, discipline, and sacrifice, having written glorious chapters in the defense of the homeland and preservation of its resources with the blood of its martyrs." He added that the journey continues today under the King's leadership, who is guiding the military institution to achieve "greater professionalism and modernization," drawing upon a "deep-rooted" Hashemite legacy and the unwavering resolve of loyal men who carry the banner of the nation with steadfast faith and unshakeable belief. On its significance, he affirmed this anniversary will remain an occasion to recall the values of dignity and sovereignty and renew the pledge to sustain Jordan's continued strength and security. //Petra// AG
