Amman, Mar. 3 (Petra) – The administrative and general bodies of the Friends Society of the Jordan Eye Bank & Prevention of Blindness discussed mechanisms to promote and spur cornea donation during a meeting held Monday evening.

According to a society statement issued on Tuesday, participants went over a slew of proposals aimed at streamlining cornea donation procedures.

The discussions also sought to ensure donors reach blind and visually impaired patients on waiting lists at government hospitals, whose numbers exceed 3, 000.

Additionally, attendees called for establishing a national center to regulate cornea and organ donation and registering donor cases within the "Sanad" digital system.

The statement said this vision would contribute to organizing and expediting the process and reducing the number of people on the waiting list.
