Amman, March 3 (Petra) -- The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate refuted reports circulating about the death of a person as a result of falling shrapnel in the Naour area on Monday.

He said that a report was received on Monday by security agencies in the Naour area, south of Amman, stating that a man of Egyptian nationality had been shot inside his workplace, leading to his death.

He added that investigations revealed that a person of the same nationality who works with him accidentally fired at him from a firearm of the "pump-action shotgun" type while they were cleaning it, which was confirmed by several witnesses who were at the scene.

He indicated that investigations are still ongoing.
