13/ Amman Chamber Exports Rise 3.1% to JD1.14 Billion in Two Months
Amman, March 4 (Petra) -- Exports by the Amman Chamber of Industry rose 3.1% in the first two months of the year to JD1.137 billion, compared with JD1.103 billion in the same period of 2025, according to recent statistical data. Seven industrial sectors recorded export growth during the period. The pharmaceutical and medical supplies sector posted the highest increase at 54.7%. In contrast, engineering industries declined by 34.3%, garments by 3.1%, and plastics by 0.5%. Geographically, four countries, India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, accounted for the bulk of the Chamber’s exports, totaling JD 565 million. Exports to Saudi Arabia rose by 1.6 percent to JD 137 million, and exports to Iraq increased by 2.3 percent to JD 153 million. Conversely, exports to India declined 18.7 percent to JD 128 million, and shipments to the United States fell by 26.4 percent to JD 147 million. Exports to Syria and Palestine recorded notable growth, rising 12 percent to JD 49 million and 85 percent to JD 54 million, respectively. Overall, Arab countries led the Chamber’s exports with JD 598 million, followed by non-Arab Asian countries with JD 246 million, African countries with JD 8 million, North America with JD 155 million, South America with JD 3 million, European Union countries with JD 70 million, European countries outside the EU with JD 37 million, and other regions with JD 21 million. By sector, mining exports reached JD 242 million, chemicals and cosmetics JD 227 million, and food, agricultural, and livestock products JD 189 million. Exports from engineering, electrical, and IT industries totaled JD 125 million, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies JD 111 million, and leather and textiles approximately JD 91 million. Other sectors included plastics and rubber (JD 53 million), construction (JD 48 million), packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies (JD 46 million), and wood and furniture (JD 4 million).
