15/ Lower House approves 2025 Insurance Contracts Law
Amman, March 4 (Petra) – The House of Representatives approved the 2025 Insurance Contracts Law, as submitted by the government, after making amendments to some articles and repealing others. The endorsement came during a legislative session held Wednesday, chaired by Speaker Mazen Qadi, and attended by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan and members of the government team. Voting on its provisions, the House approved Articles 100 and 101 of the draft law, as submitted by the government, in accordance with the decision of the House Committee on Economy and Investment. Article 100 of the draft law reads: "The Cabinet shall issue the regulations necessary to implement the provisions of this law," while Article 101 says: "The Prime Minister and Ministers are charged with implementing the provisions of this law." During a session held on March 2, 2026, the House approved 75 articles of the draft law, specifically articles 25 through 99. On February 25, 2026, the MPs passed 13 articles, namely articles 13 through 24, and on February 23, 2026, it approved 12 articles (articles 1-12). As for the session held on November 24, 2025, the House, by a majority vote, referred the 2025 Insurance Contracts Law to its Committee on Economy and Investment, which subsequently approved it on February 4, 2026. During its session on November 5, 2025, the Cabinet approved the bill, aimed to enhance transparency and fairness in the relationship between insurance companies and citizens. The draft law also seeks to protect the rights of insured people by obligating insurance companies to respond to claims within 10 days and preventing the imposition of unfair or ambiguous settlement terms. It contributes to stimulating investment and supporting the national economy by providing a modern legislative environment, as well as addressing negative practices in the sector. //Petra// AG
