38/ KAFD launches third cycle of "Tamkeen" project to support political participation initiatives**

Amman, March 8 (Petra) -- The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) has launched the third cycle of its "Tamkeen" project to support political initiatives.

The launch of this phase continues KAFD's role as a national institution supporting efforts to encourage active political participation, in line with Jordan’s political modernization path pursued in parallel with administrative and economic modernization tracks adopted by the state.

The "Tamkeen" project aims to support programs and initiatives that contribute to promoting the concepts and outcomes of political modernization, expanding the base of community political participation, particularly among youth and women, in addition to building the capacity of political parties to create an environment that encourages program-based political work.

The project also seeks to empower young leaders and provide them with the necessary tools for effective participation, as well as support initiatives that enhance youth representation in local administrative councils, including municipalities and decentralization bodies.

Proposed projects fall under four main pillars: establishing and supporting an enabling environment to develop and empower young leadership; enhancing and improving community political participation in general and youth participation in particular; contributing to supporting program-based party participation; and increasing women’s participation and representation in political life.

The project targets civil society institutions and non-profit companies working in political awareness, provided that they are Jordanian, non-governmental, and registered with the relevant authorities. The nature of the project must also align with the objectives of the applying institution; the idea must not be funded by any other party at the time of submission; and it must not serve or promote any political party, while the implementation period must not exceed six months.

The project will be implemented in stages starting with receiving applications, followed by evaluation by a specialized technical committee, then selecting projects eligible for the interview stage, leading to the announcement of projects selected for support, and concluding with monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure the achievement of desired objectives.

The "Tamkeen" project provides direct financial support to qualified institutions to implement their proposed initiatives and projects within the specified themes, enabling them to transform their ideas into practical programs on the ground, in line with the fund’s objectives of supporting political participation and strengthening national development.

The project funded 29 institutions during 2024 and 2025, with topics focusing on spreading community political awareness and stimulating the environment for partisan and political work among various segments of society, reflecting the project’s impact in supporting the political modernization path and promoting a culture of active participation in the Kingdom.
