14/ Experts: Jordan Capable of Facing Regional Challenges, Maintaining Security
Amman, March 11 (Petra)-- Jordan has the capability to stand up to regional challenges and address escalating developments in the Middle East, and protect its national security and strategic interests, according to experts. In a lecture at the 35th annual ceremony of the Middle East Studies Center (MESC) on the risks of the "Israeli Project in the Region" amid the aggression on regional countries, experts highlighted the importance of awareness of threats posed by Israeli policies to the region, and the need to boost national unity, and support Arab causes, foremost of which is the Palestine issue. Jordan is capable of overcoming challenges and achieving safe solutions to safeguard national and strategic security, said Director of the center Bayan Omari in the attendance of politicians, academics and diplomats. Omari presented a report on the center’s achievements in 2025, including holding seminars, workshops, political salons, and publication of strategic studies and reports. He outlined the center’s 2025 achievements, including seminars, workshops, political salons, and publication of strategic studies and reports. Abdullah Kanaan, Secretary-General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs, hailed the center’s institutional work and administrative and supervisory structure with a clear focus on its strategic role. The current regional and international developments underline that Palestine and Jerusalem remain key political and security drivers in the region amid the ongoing Israeli aggression, killings, imprisonment, settlements, and violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites, Kanaan said. He urged national unity in defending Jordan and supporting the Hashemite custodianship over holy sites in Jerusalem and the legitimate rights of the Palestinians, warning against Israeli settlement and Judaization scheme in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Retired General and strategic expert Mohammad Farghal said Israel seeks to drag the region into a war to fulfill its goal of displacing Palestinians, achieving annexation, and expanding regional dominance. A key risk of the Israeli project, he said, is the conviction of Israeli governments about domination in the Middle East through dividing Arab countries along ethnic and sectarian lines and surrounding them through regional and international alliances. //Petra// NQ
