  11/ Energy Ministry: Global fuel prices surge

Amman, March 16 (Petra) – Global oil derivative prices rose in the second week of the month, compared with the first week, driven by the military escalation in the Middle East, according to the weekly bulletin issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The average price of 95-octane gasoline surged 29.6 percent from $902 to $1,169 per ton. The average price of 90-octane gasoline is up from $857 to $1,073, an increase of 25.2 percent, and the price of diesel increased from $988 to $1,271, about 28.6 percent, according to the bulletin.

Kerosene price rose from $1,290 to $1,346 per ton, about 4.3 percent, and the average price of fuel oil rose from $566 to $752 per ton, an increase of 32.9 percent, according to the ministry's figures.

The average price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) remained stable during the month of March at the same rate as in February, which was $541 per ton, while Brent crude climbed from $85 to $96 per barrel, an increase of 12.9 percent, the figures showed.
