4/ GCC Secretary General Condemns "Blatant" Iranian Attacks
Amman, Mar. 22 (Petra)-- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has renewed his strong condemnation and denunciation of what he described as ongoing "blatant and treacherous" Iranian attacks against GCC member states. Albudaiwi said the attacks, which include the deliberate targeting of infrastructure and oil facilities, constitute a flagrant violation of international law and norms, and pose a direct threat to regional security, stability, and the safety of global energy supplies. He stressed that the continuation of such actions clearly reflects what he called the Iranian government’s escalating approach toward GCC countries, describing the attacks as unacceptable acts of aggression that undermine de-escalation efforts and endanger both regional and international security. Albudaiwi also rejected Iranian claims attempting to hold GCC states responsible for any military operations, calling them "baseless and entirely unacceptable," and emphasizing that GCC countries pursue consistent policies based on respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and the promotion of regional and international peace and security. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Albudaiwi affirmed that GCC member states reserve their full right guaranteed under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and international law to take all necessary measures to protect their security and stability, safeguard their resources, and respond to such attacks. He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities by condemning these actions, taking a firm and deterrent stance, and working to compel Iran to immediately comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026, in order to halt these violations and preserve regional stability. Albudaiwi concluded by reaffirming the unity and full solidarity of GCC states in confronting any threats to their security and interests, underscoring their continued commitment to joint action aimed at enhancing regional stability and achieving peace for their peoples. //Petra// MF
