13/ Higher Council for Science Advances Research Sector Through EU Funding Awareness Initiative

Amman, March 29 (Petra) -- The Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST) highlighted its role as Jordan’s national representative for the European Union’s ''Horizon'' program by organizing a specialized introductory workshop on the Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA).

The virtual workshop, held on March 18, drew broad participation from Jordan and across the region, with more than 400 researchers and representatives from academic, research and industrial institutions, reflecting growing interest in European funding programs and research collaboration opportunities in Jordan and the Mediterranean region.

According to an HCST statement on Sunday, the workshop aimed to familiarize participants with key funding streams, including doctoral networks, postdoctoral fellowships and co-funded research programs. It also highlighted application procedures, evaluation criteria and provided practical guidance on preparing competitive research proposals and building effective international partnerships.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Global project for program support and management. It featured specialized sessions led by experts focusing on enabling researchers and institutions to maximize available funding opportunities and strengthen their participation in international research projects.

HCST also contributed through the National Contact Point, represented by engineer Omayma Bani Salman, who delivered a presentation on mechanisms to support Jordanian researchers and facilitate access to the programs, enhancing regional knowledge exchange.

The workshop is part of HCST’s ongoing efforts to support Jordan’s research sector by improving access to international funding sources, boosting the competitiveness of research proposals and expanding collaboration with global partners.

Outcomes of the workshop are expected to increase the participation of Jordanian researchers in EU programs, foster partnerships with European and international institutions, support researcher mobility and knowledge exchange, and improve the quality of research outputs from Jordan.

These efforts further strengthen Jordan’s presence in international research networks and support its role in the global research and innovation system, contributing to sustainable development goals.
