6/ Dead Sea Ultramarathon Marks 30th Edition with Route Upgrades, Expanded Partnerships

Amman, March 29 (Petra) -- Preparations are intensifying for the 30th edition of the Bromine Dead Sea Ultramarathon, with organizers introducing route upgrades and institutional partnerships aimed at reinforcing the event’s international standing.

The race, scheduled for April 10, is held at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, and remains one of the region’s leading endurance events, attracting runners from various nationalities and age groups.

Director General of the Jordan Marathon Association (Run Jordan), Lina Kurd, said the association continues to develop the race in line with international standards, noting that the event’s global classification and certified routes have strengthened its position on the international race calendar and increased participation by international runners.

She added that the 30th edition represents a milestone in the evolution of the event, with efforts focused on delivering an integrated race experience that supports Jordan’s positioning as a destination for sports tourism.

As part of this year’s updates, the 50km and 21km race routes have been adjusted to run along the Dead Sea corniche, enhancing the race experience by combining competitive performance with the area’s unique natural setting. Organizers have also reinforced logistical and operational arrangements.

The event comes amid stronger institutional coordination, following a cooperation agreement between the Jordan Athletics Federation and Run Jordan aimed at improving race organization standards, including certification processes and the provision of qualified officials.

The 50km race has also obtained international classification at the Bronze level for this year, further supporting the event’s global recognition.

The ultramarathon will feature multiple race categories, including a 50km ultramarathon (individual and relay), a 21km half-marathon, alongside races for visually impaired runners and wheelchair users, and a 10km race, in addition to a 10km race for participants with disabilities.

A children’s race is scheduled for April 17 at Al-Hussein Public Parks for participants aged 6 to 14, as part of efforts to promote sports participation and encourage healthy lifestyles among younger age groups.

In its community dimension, 20 percent of registration fees will be allocated to support Gaza, in cooperation with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization.

Organizers said all logistical and technical preparations are progressing according to high standards to ensure participant safety and deliver a competitive race experience in what marks a landmark edition of the event.
