17/ Zarqa commercial re-exports hit JD33.9 million in April

Zarqa, May 2 (Petra) -- Commercial re-exports from the city of Zarqa totaled approximately JD33.9 million ($47.8 million) in April, according to official data released by the Zarqa Chamber of Commerce on Saturday.
The figures indicate sustained commercial activity despite ongoing regional and international economic challenges.

Hussein Shreim, President of the Zarqa Chamber of Commerce, stated in a press release that the total value of JD33,920,799 was calculated based on 284 certificates of origin issued by the chamber and its office located within the Free Zone.

Shreim noted that the automotive and spare parts sector accounted for the largest share of the city’s exports during the month. Other significant commodities included construction materials, sanitary ware, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, foodstuffs, apparel, and jewelry.

The export list also featured electrical and electronic appliances, home and office furniture, and stationery, highlighting the diversity of the city's export base.

The April figures show a decrease in export volume compared to March, which recorded approximately JD50 million. Exports also saw a slight decline compared to the same period last year, which reached nearly JD35 million. Shreim attributed these fluctuations to various regional and global economic factors.

The chamber president emphasized the importance of strengthening the business environment and supporting export-oriented sectors to stimulate economic growth and reinforce Zarqa’s position as a vital commercial hub within the kingdom.
