33/ Mafraq Water Administration reduces water loss by 10% in Q1
Mafraq, May 18 (Petra) -- The Mafraq Water Administration successfully reduced its water loss rate by 10 percent during the first quarter of the current year, according to Operations Director Abdullah Aleimat. Aleimat stated that the decline in water loss was achieved through a series of technical measures and infrastructure projects implemented across various areas of jurisdiction within the Mafraq Governorate. Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Monday, Aleimat explained that the administration focused heavily over the past year on a major initiative to replace old and malfunctioning water meters with new mechanical ones. A total of 22,474 meters were replaced, which directly and positively impacted the reduction of water loss compared to previous periods. Aleimat further noted that infrastructure projects aimed at replacing selected water networks and transmission pipelines in Mafraq also played a significant role in lowering the loss rate. Conversely, he pointed out that illegal water usage, alongside tampering and assaults on main water lines and valves, remains a primary factor driving up water loss. The operations director concluded by emphasizing that the ongoing measures taken by the Mafraq Water Administration aim to mitigate these illegal violations as much as possible. These efforts are designed to permanently lower water loss and ensure that a sufficient, unobstructed supply of water is provided to meet the demands of all subscribers in the governorate. //Petra// AF
