15/ Ten killed in south Lebanon in Israeli airstrikes

Beirut, May 23 (Petra) – Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on villages and towns in southern Lebanon and the Western Bekaa Valley on Saturday, killing 10 people and injuring 33 others, according to Lebanese authorities.

Among the injured were 25 members of the medical, nursing and administrative staff at Hiram Hospital in the southern city of Tyre.

The Lebanese Army stated that one soldier sustained moderate injuries following an Israeli strike targeting an army barracks in Nabatieh.

Lebanon's Ministry of Health said the airstrikes near Hiram Hospital caused extensive damage to the facility and injured hospital staff.

The ministry noted that airstrikes were the second time in less than two months that the hospital had been exposed to danger due to repeated Israeli attacks, which it said violated international humanitarian law protecting medical facilities and disregarded relevant international resolutions, including a recent World Health Assembly resolution calling for the protection of Lebanon's health sector.

The ministry added that the death toll from the ongoing aggression between March 2 and May 23 had risen to 3,123, with 9,506 others wounded.
